Reconnecting People With Rivers Project

The Creative Discourse Group is partnering with Friends of the Winooski River to strengthen residents’ connections with their local rivers in Winooski, Northfield, and Barre. TCDG Associate Jamaal Hankey recently hosted a well-attended River Trivia Night at the Barre Social Club, where community members tested their knowledge of the watershed, shared stories, and enjoyed an evening of friendly competition. The event helped the Barre Rivers Collective recruit nine new volunteers, spread awareness about local river ecology and stewardship, and brought neighbors together for a fun, informative night—an encouraging step toward deeper community engagement with the Winooski watershed.
